Hey! Who stole my car?

What’s with the dividers on the roof of that building? Does each condo have a ‘private’ rooftop consisting of two blank 10ft walls?

Yeah looks like each one has a roof top terrace and instead of some nice treacle dividers they decided replicas of the Berlin Wall were necessary .

Based on how bland they are, I’m going to guess there are some strict HOA rules to prevent anyone from growing ivy or, ya know, going full replica of Berlin....

Huh, didn’t know HOA in a complex was a thing. What even is the point?

I didn’t realize until recently how rare the sedan M3 of the E9x generation was. Very great car.

It was an 08, better go check your garage!

I think they’re for privacy.

It’s really apparent when you’re trying to buy one. It took me about two months to find a suitable 2009-2011 E90 with a six speed to buy when I was looking for mine back in 2014. I think there’s only around 5000 E90 M3s running around North America.

Only 4313 (in the world) with a manual.

I know it and I want a 6-speed . Imho there’s never been a better time to buy one. There’s 50k mile examples with one or two owners going for under $25k. I think in five years the condition is going be generally a lot lower and cars with 50k miles might be $35k. That’s where the E46 market is.

More 911’s than that are sold in the US in a year.

Yeah, it’s the perfect time to buy.

E90 or E92? It seems like E90s with that kind of mileage are still above 30, if you can find a decent one. Mine was a one owner car with just under 16k on it, but I picked it up in 2014 and paid 50k for it. I think the E90s with low mileage are about as cheap as they're going to get, just because the supply is a lot more limited than the E92.

E90, sedan :). I don’t think there is a huge spread in price between E90 and E92. I’d have to do a spreadsheet and run regressions against the milage. If there is a premium its maybe $2k.
A 14k mile E90 example would command a premium today. I’m looking at cars under $30k which means higher milage . I’m seeing 50k mile cars for around $25k. There’s a one owner 51k mile for $23k near me. It was nicely spec’d and had the Dirac sound system. At 100k miles prices are like $19k. Seems like 50k miles is a lot better value.
The thing about the E90/2 that makes them such a value is not just the price but the condition. The interiors seem so much more durable than the E46. Every E90 I’ve seen including 100k mile are really good; not the quality your 14k mile car but good. I haven’t seen an E46 under $25k with a decent interior, without dents or rest. I’ve seen like 5 E46 and regardless of milage they’re all tired. I think that’s in part due the quality of construction. The other thing is the ownership groups of the two generations. The E90 owners paid a lot more for their car than the E46 owners . E90 guys are also—I want to be complimentary—fussy . They’re perfectionists. They’re guys you want to buy a car from.

I might do a thing for Jalopnik about it.
